There are 2 primary purposes of the website: 

1. To provide an overview of the services that the Veterinary Neurological Center offers to owners, their pets, and referring veterinarians.  Guests will quickly be able to navigate throughout the website to gain an overall understanding of the VNC. 
2. To provide detailed information about veterinary neurology in general.  Guests seeking such information will find links throughout the website that provide elaboration on veterinary-related words and topics. 

Both types of users may find the following tips helpful, starting with Navigating the Site►.

Navigating the Site

1. Home Page Menu
   
   • The large colored buttons on the home page.
   • They are linked to the 5 pages that visitors may specifically come to the site to find.
2. Quicklinks Menu  
   • The navy bar at the top of each page.
   • It provides quick and easy access to commonly viewed pages.
3. Main Menu  
   • The silver horizontal bar on every page.
   • It organizes the website into the 6 primary sections.
4. Left Menu 
   
   • The gray vertical menu on the left of most pages.
   • At a glimpse, it shows every page within that section*.  When the page or subsection is selected, the name will turn blue when scrolled over and the picture will change.  *Each page comprising the Staff, Forms, and Glossary Categories sections are not listed in the left menu but are listed in the Site Map.
5. Site Map
   • Located in the Quicklinks Menu and Resources Section.
   • Provides an outline showing every page of the website.
6. Search Bar  
   • Located in the Quicklinks Menu.
   • Specific terms on the website can be found by entering them here.  Most terms are Linked to Additional Information►

Links to Additional Information

The following 4 types of links are tailored for guests in search of more detailed explanations about a concept or term:

1. Black words that become underlined when scrolled over will direct the guest to another page within the website.  Pressing the back button in the browser will return the user to the previous page.
2. Maroon words (click here) provide information (e.g. overviews of particular neurological disorders, pictures of anatomical structures, videos, etc.) contained in a page linked to an outside University or veterinary-related website.  Once finished viewing the page, the user may discard it from the desktop by pressing the X button in the browser.  A list of all the websites linked from vetneuro.com and their web addresses is located in the Links page of the Resources section. 
3. Green words (click here) link to forms or articles that are in portable document format (PDF).  Adobe Acrobat Reader® software is required in order to view these PDF pages from your computer.  If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader®, click here to download a free version of the software.
4. Blue words (click here) will bring up a popup window that elaborates on a concept or provides a definition from the Glossary►.
   

Glossary Tips

• Many terms (in blue font) found throughout the website are linked to definitions in the Glossary.
  • Clicking on the maroon link below the definition will provide further information by linking to an outside website.
    
  • Clicking on a Related Word at the bottom of a definition will link to other terms within the Glossary. 
• Guests may easily find the Glossary from any page by selecting it from the Quicklinks menu or by navigating to Resources>Glossary. 
• Searching for a particular term can easily be found by navigating to the Category List of either the Glossary page or Neurological Signs & Diseases page.  The categories are:
  • Anatomy
  • Signs/Problems
  • Disorders/Diseases
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Miscellaneous
• Many of the complex terms in the Glossary are organized and explained in the NeurologyOverview►

Neurology Overview

The Neurology Overview is a tool for guests who are interested in gaining a basic understanding of veterinary neurology.  Located in the Resources section of the website, this page provides information about how the nervous system works, an outline of neuroanatomy and neurological terms, and classification of neurological diseases.  This umbrella of introductory neurological information will provide guests with the basic tools to process more complex concepts found throughout the website.

Printing a Web Page

Press the print icon in the lower right hand corner of the desired page.  A new window will pop up with a printable document.  If the window does not appear, try turning off the pop-up blocker in the web browser's preferences.
